Meet the Band
Ian Black - Bass & Vocals
Ian Black has been immersed in music for over 22 years, growing up in a family where music was a way of life. Inspired by his father, Ian picked up the drums in high school and quickly made his mark in the band and gigging scene. Recognising the need for bass players, he expanded his skills and became equally proficient on both instruments.
Over the years, Ian has performed with numerous bands, showcasing his versatility and musicianship on stages big and small. His dual expertise as a drummer and bassist has made him a highly valued collaborator. Beyond performing, Ian has built a respected career as a music teacher, sharing his knowledge and passion with aspiring musicians. His dedication to continuous learning and exploring new sounds keeps him at the forefront of the South African music scene.
Steve Guild - Drums & Vocals
Steve Guild’s music career began in Johannesburg, where he cut his teeth playing with original bands and was offered record deals with RPM Records and BMG. He performed alongside legendary South African acts like Brenda Fassie, MarcAlex, No Friends of Harry, Bright Blue, and Celtic Rumours, earning recognition as one of Johannesburg’s most in-demand drummers.
After relocating to Cape Town, Steve co-founded the original band One Big Rush before joining India, a band whose songs charted on 5FM and solidified his reputation as both a powerful drummer and vocalist.
In later years, Steve transitioned into the cover band scene, where he’s become known for his ability to deliver high-energy drumming while singing lead vocals—an uncommon and impressive skill. His experience and versatility make him a driving force in the band, inspiring audiences and fellow musicians alike.
